INDIA TRAVEL MART-JAIPUR BECOMES THE FIRST PHYSICAL TOURISM EVENT TO PROMOTE DOMESTIC TOURISM IN THE ERA OF COVID

India Travel Mart (ITM) Jaipur- India’s leading B2B Travel & Tourism Showcase & Conclave was inaugurated at B.M Birla Auditorium, Statue Circle in Jaipur on Friday. The first day of the travel show was attended by delegates, travel agents, tour organizers, hoteliers, members of national travel associations like ADTOI, IATO, TAAI, OTOAI, RATO, IATTE and other travel trade associations. The 3-day mega-event was on till 13 December. Entry to the show was complimentary.

On the occasion Managing Director, ITM, Mr. Ajay Gupta said that the main objective of the ITM Jaipur was to promote domestic tourism in these Corona times. The fair had stalls featuring all types of tourism like MICE, adventure, destination weddings and much more for the upcoming holidays like Christmas and New Year’s. As the wedding season is upon us, many people are also booking destination weddings. As people are slowly venturing out of their homes road tourism and caravan tourism are also gaining popularity. The show was held by maintaining all Covid safety protocols and guidelines.

Conference on ‘Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat- Dekho Apna Desh’

On the second day of ITM-Jaipur, a conference on ‘Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat- Dekho Apna Desh – Promoting Domestic Tourism’ Jaipur, Rajasthan was held on Saturday evening. The event was attended by officials from Ministry of Tourism- India Tourism, officials from Gujarat Tourism Department, officials from Rajasthan Tourism Department and other members of the travel and trade fraternity. A presentation by Gujarat Tourism was also shown on the occasion.

President, Association of Domestic Tour Operator (ADTOI), Mr. P.P. Khanna said that travel and tour operators need to take up the additional responsibility of educating tourists to follow all health and safety protocols when they visit a tourist destination.

Mr. Subash Verma, National Advisor, India Association of Travel and Tourism Experts (IATTE) said that tourism will bounce back and it is time for the industry to look forward. India has the potential for domestic tourism and now is the time to think and work together as an industry to make it true.

Treasurer, Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) Rajasthan Chapter Mr. Arvind Pareek and Managing Director, Dove Travels, Amritsar, Mr. Ashwani Gupta were also present on the occasion.

Gujarat Tourism Wins ‘Best Stall’ Award

On the concluding day of the show, Gujarat Tourism bagged the ‘Best Stall’ award for their unique design concept and attractive decorations. Apart from this mementos were given to all other stalls.

Deputy Manager Marketing & Promotions Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Limited, Ms. Nikita Kathiriya said that it is indeed gratifying that the visionary and responsible tourism activities of Gujarat Tourism have been recognized and awarded by esteemed organisations in India and internationally.
